My name is Megan and I'm a 29 year old wife and stay at home mom of two little ones, ages 2 and 3. I was a preschool teacher before becoming a mommy, and always thought I'd use my education and experience at home with my own children. It doesn't always work that way, but I do try. I love staying home, but I've fallen into some not so great habits. I yell too often, act disgruntled and annoyed too often, and don't take enough time to enjoy these precious years of having little ones at home. I'm determined to make 2014 a year of new beginnings, and this blog is going to be my way of enjoying and remembering the small moments.
I think a big part of enjoying my job as a mom is remembering the parts of me that aren't related to child rearing. I love reading, and read every single day. I'm always on the look out for new and engrossing fiction books. I am devoted to real books, but did get a Kindle for my birthday and i'm slowly turning into a convert. I also love coffee (Dunkin Donuts with a Starbucks thrown in here and there), wine, and Rhode Island. (I'm born and bred, and plan to stay forever!) Because I stay home, we're on a tight budget so I'm a big proponent of meal planning, budgeting and saving money wherever I can. I actually enjoying sitting down each week to fill out my meal planning charts and grocery lists. If I had my way I'd shop exclusively at Trader Joe's, but I find I need to supplement with BJs, Walmart, Target and Dave's, our local small grocery store.
Stephanie is my 3 (almost 4!) year old daughter. She's smart, spirited and loving, but can be very moody. She's quick to get frustrated and needs reminders to slow down and take her time. She loves arts and crafts, books, TV, and her LeapPad. If she had her way, she would spend her life outside. She loves food and i'm blessed that she isn't picky about what she eats. She loves to help me clean and cook. I pretty much burst with pride every time I stop and watch her.
Joseph is my 2 year old boy, and let me tell you, he sure is a 2 year old boy. He is loud and rambunctious, and so full of energy that it makes me exhausted just watching him. He's also the sweetest and most loving child i've ever met. He crawls into my lap and asks for hugs and snuggles on a daily basis. He thrills in throwing things, bothering his sister, and having tantrums. His favorite activities include coloring and "vrooming" (as he says) his cars and trucks.
